Somebody forwarded an alarming virus warning to me. What should I do?
Very often these chain letters turn out to be hoaxes. Do not delete files or download software from an untrusted website. Do not forward the warning to everyone in your address book.
Instead, search trusted news or technology websites for information about the virus. Or visit a hoax information page. We like
The US Department of Energy Computer Incident Advisory Capability hoax page
. Still not sure? Ask your technical consultant for advice-- it's our business to keep track of these things.
